The foundation of my engagement in information science and cybersecurity lies within interactions with others. Over five years of experience in hospitality, first as a server then a bartender, I learned the skills necessary to function efficiently in stressful environments. It was there that I developed my value of human-centric approach to problem-solving. No technology is any good unless it serves humans. In the course of my academic career, I managed help desk and was a member of a college fraternity, bringing forward the same philosophy.
In my portfolio, this concept is best represented in artifacts dealing with cybersecurity and data science. While engaging with the AIG Information Security Analyst or Mastercard Phishing Awareness Training simulations, it is always human lives and their well-being that I have in mind. For example, I know that every network protocol and each and every potential threat are the elements of infrastructure which is utilized by people, and therefore I try to do everything in my power to ensure that users are safe. The experience of peer tutoring has made me realize that education is the only viable way of overcoming threats on the Internet.
With my academic background, I feel certain that my experiences will be an asset. The development of an artificial poem generator demonstrates my wish to unite logic with creativity. Whether I analyze network protocols with Wireshark or develop user-friendly tools, my main aim is to become a professional who is able to use technological skills together with the passion for human interaction in order to provide a solution for the benefit of users.
